Moscow court releases Domodedovo owner Kamenshchik from arrest
MOSCOW, Jul 1 (PRIME) -- The Moscow City Court released from arrest the owner of Domodedovo airport Dmitry Kamenshchik on Friday, satisfying a cassation claim by Deputy Prosecutor General Vladimir Malinovsky.
Kamenshchik was put under home arrest on February 19 under a second criminal case to punish people whose inaction could have caused a terrorist attack in Domodedovo in 2011.
An older case which followed the explosion was closed in 2015 due to the absence of evidence of Domodedovo executives’ guilt and uncertainty about the real beneficiaries of the airport due to its complicated ownership structure.
The businessman announced a program of loss compensation to victims of the attack through what he called a charity fund in May. He pled not guilty. Earlier in June, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested 1 billion rubles worth of property of Kamenshchik.
